Hedges provide natural agricultural boundaries. Late autumn hedge cutting helps to promote healthy growth in spring. This ensures that the hedges remain a dense and impenetrable barrier to protect your land and livestock. 

As your hedges mature, sometimes they may be causing an obstruction or become too overgrown and need to be cut back. For example, overgrown hedges can be prohibit access and visibility on highways, access roads, footpaths, or cow/horse paths. If the hedges are restricting vehicle, pedestrian, or livestock movements, then the hedges should be cut back as a safety measure.

Please note that hedge trimming and cutting is restricted to certain months to protect nesting birds.
